Congratulations to Springfield College, those in attendance to the Global Health Trip to Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago, and Mary Monahan for giving us a first hand view of the great care provided.
Friday’s Final Mary Thoughts: “Today was a busy and successful day in Ouanaminthe! The OT students here have been a great new addition to the trip this year, compared to the past with only PT students, being able to address more activities of daily living has been very beneficial for patients. We were able to work with pediatrics, adults, various orthopedic and neurological patients today. The home visit was a big success and we went to the same house again and helped to get the woman walking with some assistance and educated their family on ways to improve their technique. In one of the pictures is Guevetherly, he is sponsored by me and three other of my classmates (Brian Greer, Ryan Donoghue and Jenn Gallione) that started supporting him for his therapy needs two years ago after our first trip to Haiti and FONHARE. Sponsoring a child or adult is a great way to help out, for $45 a month it provides them with all of their rehab services needed! Overall another great day, can’t believe tomorrow will be the last day in the clinic! “
One more day . . . “Final day at FONHARE in Ouanaminthe was a blast! Had the opportunity to work with a lot of people today with orthopedic conditions, post-stroke rehab and pediatrics! It was hard to say goodbye to patients that we’ve known for a few years now since starting our trips in 2015, there’s been familiar faces that have come every day for therapy which has been such a pleasure to work with them again! So we are finished in the clinic for this year here at FONHARE. Looking forward to future FONHARE and Haiti work/involvement…stay tuned!”
